Our impact is amplified through a robust network of dedicated educators, caregivers, medical professionals, and passionate volunteers. Together, we deliver hands on learning experiences and practical skills that equip girls to understand and advocate for their health and well being. From interactive workshops to mentorship, our community is united in promoting the wellness and dignity of young women.

1 in 5 girls struggle to afford menstrual products, leading to missed educational opportunities and lower self-esteem. Millions of teens lack access to comprehensive puberty and menstrual health education, leading to misinformation, stigma, and health risks. BCI is determined to change this narrative by providing girls with the resources and education they need to confidently manage their health.

We aim to impact over 1,000 teens in our first year through a newly developed curriculum Improving menstrual health literacy by 60%. By 2027, we are committed to distributing 16,000 menstrual care products and offering essential wellness resources to over 4,000 girls in the Detroit area.

  • President

    A Detroit native, Olivia Pearson is a strategic communicator dedicated to amplifying unheard voices. As The Social Publicist, she has represented global influencers and brands, including Olympic Sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Nike, Apple, and prominent political figures like Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Maryland Governor Wes Moore, and Vice President Kamala Harris. With a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Wayne State University, Her expertise spans brand consulting, media relations, event production, and strategic partnerships.

    Treasure overcame the challenges of her upbringing to earn an MBA, in Business administration. Showcasing her commitment to education and personal growth. Currently, she serves as the Treasurer for the Bassa Care Initiative. Treasure is a passionate advocate for young underserved girls, dedicated to empowering them to embrace their true selves, regardless of their circumstances. As a creative, she uses her talents to inspire and uplift through social media content creation.

  • Founder/Excecutive Director

    Phadelya Bassa is the visionary Founder and Executive Director of the Bassa Care Initiative, With over 5 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, Phadelya is passionate about creating sustainable change through community driven initiatives.

    Before founding BCI, Phadelya Studied Fashion Merchandising at Wayne State University and worked with several nonprofits, including Teen Hype, Design Connect, & DEFY program. Her extensive background in mentoring,program facilitation, fundraising, and advocacy has been instrumental in building partnerships with corporate sponsors. In addition to her role with the organization she devotes her time as one of the founding connectors at GUCCI Detroit.
